Nursing Team
The Howard House Practice nursing team aims to work in
partnership with you to provide a high quality professional service
in a caring, friendly and supportive environment. When you contact
the Surgery for an appointment, it may sometimes be more appropriate
for you to be seen by one of the nursing team rather than by a
Doctor.
Nurse
Practitioner
A Nurse Practitioner is an experienced nurse who will have
undertaken a specific course of extended nurse training; and can
take on many of the tasks traditionally carried out by Doctors. They
diagnose and treat many of the common illnesses that require “on the
day” or more urgent appointments and can independently prescribe
medication for patients as required. In addition, they provide a
telephone “triage” service which enables patients to receive a
consultation over the telephone, without the need to visit the
surgery.
This compliments the role of the Doctors and allows them time for
more complex problems.

Clare Bramhill - Nurse Practitioner Degree (First Class
Honours)
Special Interest - Diabetes
Both Sally and Clare are qualified Independent Nurse Prescribers and
are able to deal with many problems such as chest infections, sore
throat, ear and urine infections without you needing to see a
doctor.

Nurses
Our team of qualified nurses delivers a broad range of services
which include advice on all aspects of health and well-being; asthma
and diabetic care; cervical smears; ear syringes; travel health and
immunisations and blood pressure checks. They also monitor patients
in the chronic heart disease (CHD) and chronic obstructive pulmonary
disease (COPD) clinics and can offer helpful support and advice on
lifestyle issues such as diet, smoking, exercise and alcohol use.
They work closely with our GPs to provide a comprehensive service to
our patients.
Patricia Evans – Practice Nurse specialising in CHD, COPD and
Asthma.
Denise Sleightholme – Practice Nurse specialising in
Diabetes, Weight Management and General Nursing.
Shelley de Cleen - Practice Nurse specialising in General
Nursing
Health Care
Assistant
Alison Kemp – Available to perform blood pressure checks, ECG
tracings and hearing tests. Alison also assists in the CHD and COPD
screening and assessments and health checks for newly registered
